EHJ Sisters Celebrate Feast of Pentecost
The Feast of Pentecost
Sunday the 31st of May, 2020 is the Feast of the Descent of the Holy Spirit (on the Apostles and Mary the Mother of God) otherwise known as the Pentecost Sunday which is 50 days after the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.
We have been preparing for this great day for the past nine days with the Novena to the Holy Spirit, waiting expectantly to receive the Holy Spirit, the Advocate and praying Him to transform us, reinvigorate our Spirit and unite us in Love.
Today being a unique day in the sense that today is also the Feast of the Visitation of Mary to her cousin Saint Elizabeth as well as the last day of the devotion of the month of May in honor of Mary, the Mother of God. What a Triple Celebration!
The Sisters in the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus (Generalate Community and those of the Trinity Convent, Ikeja) gathered at exactly 2pm having the Adoration of the Holy Eucharist preceding the chaplet of Divine Mercy at exactly 3pm.
It was indeed a great day of prayers of the 20 decades of the Holy Rosary in honor of Mary, the Mother of Jesus. The Rosary was prayed by the Sisters in different languages, with songs of praises unto the Lord and the tradition of the Sisters picking from the Altar the different gifts of the Holy Spirit and offering their intentions.
As we the Sisters of the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus celebrate and participate in this unique Feast, we pray the Holy Spirit to open our minds and hearts to receive Him and to help us to be truly Eucharistic Sisters of love, peace, kindness, patience, generosity, forgiveness and gentleness edifying all to the greater glory of God.
May the coming of the Holy Spirit heal our world and rid it of Covid-19, renew the face of the earth and bring back our world to normalcy Amen.
