Holy Trinity Community Ikeja Celebrates Community Feast Day in Grand Style

HOLY TRINITY COMMUNITY IKEJA CELEBRATES COMMUNITY FEAST DAY IN GRAND STYLE

“In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit”… these are words we use frequently when we make the sign of the Cross. The Prayer expresses the mystery of the Holy Trinity., that God reveals himself in Three Persons: The Father, the Son and The Holy Spirit.
The celebration of the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity began at 8am with the Sacrifice of the Holy Mass on Sunday 7th of June, 2020 at the Chapel of the Holy Trinity Community. The Sisters in the community gathered again at noon in the same chapel to have an hour adoration before the Blessed Sacrament, and afterwards had a little indoor celebration of the feast with the Sisters from the Generalate Community having the Superior General-Rev. Sr. Dr. M. Agatha Osarenkhoe, some members of the council and the secretary general of the congregation in attendance. The Local Superior of Trinity Community Ikeja in the person of Sr. Philomena Emerhirhi welcomed all the Sisters to the first feast day of the community. This celebration happens to be the first of its kind for the Trinity Convent since the Institute in a bid to encourage deeper community living in our different convents and also to imitate the lives of the Saints gave each Convents of the Institute a Patron Saint.

One of the major highlights of the celebration was a talk given by Sr. Maureen Iwu, a member of the Trinity community. She in her speech, stated that the mystery of the most Holy Trinity is a basic doctrine of Faith in Christianity, understandable not with our heads but with our hearts. Ordinarily 1 + 1+ 1 would give you 3 but with the Trinity, the sum is still 1 and not 3. And we believe it because Jesus who is God taught it and we can understand something of this mystery of the Holy Trinity more readily with the heart than with our feeble mind.

Furthermore, she relates this to living peacefully in the community, having respect for ourselves and for others. This respect is seen vividly in the unity of the Holy Trinity, therefore our conviction of the presence of the Triune God within us should help us to esteem ourselves as God’s holy dwelling place, to behave well in His presence and to lead holier lives and by extension, respect and honor others as “Temples of the Holy Spirit”.

She encouraged the Sisters to always be aware of the presence of God as their source of strength and courage and see the Trinity as their model in the convents and in their families. She prayed that the Blessed Virgin Mary, who had a vivid experience of the Blessed Trinity in her personal life and who was overshadowed by the Holy Spirit will teach us all how to be holy and how to live our lives as individuals and as a community the mystery of the Holy Trinity and model our lives after the Unity and love of the Holy Trinity.

The members of the Holy Trinity convent Ikeja had a beautiful day with lots of food to eat and music to dance. Present as she marked her 21st Birthday was Sr. Rosemary Ugwu, a postulant of the Institute. It was a memorable celebration for her, and the Sisters wished her a happy birthday. May the Undivided Unity of the Holy Trinity be ours now and forever Amen.
