List of Local Ordinaries

The Founder of the Institute of Sisters of the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus, Archbishop Leo Hale Taylor was the first Archbishop of Lagos Archdiocese, from April 18, 1950 to October 27, 1965. He was succeeded by Archbishop John Kwao Amusu Aggey from July 6, 1965 to March 13, 1972. He was succeeded by Archbishop Anthony Olubunmi Okogie (Created Cardinal 2003), from April 13, 1973 to May 25, 2012. Archbishop Alfred Adewale Martins became the Archbishop of Lagos on May 25, 2012, following the retirement of Anthony Cardinal Okogie.
