Mass Media

The mass media are so much a part of our everyday life. The extensive use of the media fordifferent purposes, for example, information, education, and entertainment, is an indicator that they are very important. No wonder then, Pope Paul VI in Evangelii Nuntiandi (1975), the document with a special interest on evangelization said, “The Church would feel guilty before the Lord if she did not utilize these powerful means that human skill is daily rendering more perfect” (No. 45). With their persuasive and pervasive nature the mass media offer us many themes about life.

However, we found that some of the messages we receive from the media are in tune with the word of God while others conflict with that word. The Sisters of the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus, therefore, employ the print medium of The Fount magazine to communicate the message of Christ about life; we communicate themes in Jesus’ discourse, for example, love and generosity,
humility and simplicity, and the reality of the cross. Our publication also reflects other issues of life and our society.
