Elected: October 1978 – Feb 1979 – The Second Superior General

Mother Mary John Baptista of blessed Memory was in 1978 elected as the Second Superior General of the Institute. She was at this time serving as the novice mistress and secretary general of the Institute as well as the Principal of Nazareth College in Ibonwon.

The tenure of Mother Mary John Baptista was short lived. She took ill and battled with her ill-health until her death at Sacred Herat Hospital Lantoro Abeokuta on February 12, 1979 barely six months into office as the Superior General of the Institute. Mother John Baptista was a welcoming and lovely person.
