Elected: 1982 – 1991 – The Fourth Superior General

Mother Clare Idahosa was elected in 1982 as the Superior General of the Institute. She served as the fourth Superior General of the Institute from 1982 to 1985, until again was re-elected into office for her second tenure as Superior General till 1991.
Under her leadership and with the support of Archbishop A.O.Okogie the then Archbishop of Lagos, the Administrative seat of the Institute was moved from Ibonwon to Ikeja, Lagos. He was very instrumental to this movement and encouraged the sisters to go for excellence and be self-reliant.
Mother Clare Idahosa’s Administration recorded a very massive training of Sisters in Tertiary Institutions of learning. Their spiritual and material well-being were adequately catered for.
She equally had the Vitalis Wear sewing project EHJ Accommodation centre established. The Scholasticate programme of the Sisters of the Institute also took off during this administration. It earlier begun from the Generalate house in Ikeja and was later moved to Ring Road community in Ibadan.
Mother Mary Clare Idahosa was the first appointed Spiritual Director of the Confraternity of the Christian Mothers Association in Lagos and in Nigeria and this has become a permanent apostolate for all the Superior Generals of our Institute. She was also the first National Spiritual Director of the National Body of the Confraternity of the Christian Mothers.
