Social Work
The Sisters who are engaged in social work cultivate in their own life a sympathetic personal concern for the people for whom they are working. They organize women’s group and youths; adult literacy education; vocational training for school leavers; management of orphans and vulnerable children; marriage counseling; assistance to the handicap and the aged poor; and visitation of homes, hospitals and prisons.
As our Founder wished, the Congregation should be ready to undertake Apostolate that would help women and girls wherever they are sent. The service of man’s temporal needs of body, mind and spirit is in itself the service of Christ himself. “…As you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me.” (Matt. 25:40).
This is an Apostolate which needs no further justification. Nevertheless, the Sisters engaged in Social Work should also be prepared as opportunities offer, to explain religious beliefs to the people whom they are giving assistance.
In organizing Social action, the Sisters will respect and utilize as far as possible the traditional structure of any ethnic group they might be dealing with. (Ad Gentes 21, 22, 26).
We manage the following projects:

Our Sisters manage St. Monica’s Home, Iju, Lagos. The project belongs to the Archdiocese of Lagos. The Home caters for abandoned and needy children.
Home for the Elderly (a project of the Archdiocese of Lagos)
The Home for the Elderly was established to cater for the elderly destitute. Our Sisters have been working in this Home, which has catered for many elderly people, for over two decades. The home takes care of their spiritual, physical, social and psychological needs. Most of the beneficiaries of the Home stay there until they pass on.
Home for the Needy (A project of the Sisters of the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus)
