Our Choice of EHJ

Sr. Mary Eucharia Ugwuoma Onah

The Eucharist made me to embrace the religious life, although when I was a little much younger, I told my parents about becoming a sister. I wasn’t serious about it not until I finished my secondary school. Severally the Lord kept revealing himself to me in different ways in the monstrance, at some times in a ciborium on the Altar or the crucifix. I have dreamt severally seeing myself carrying the chalice and distributing communion to lay people. I chose this Institute because I love their spirituality which is the Eucharist. I wanted a place where I can be close to the Eucharistic Jesus.

When I was growing up as a child, I saw sisters as angels. The very day a sister asked me “How are you?” it was as if I was already in heaven. Her smiles, her soft voice and comportment was so inspiring and attractive. I then said to myself that I am going to become a sister too and an angel for people to see. My choice of this institute is all about the charism.  “Sharing in the sentiment of Christ when he gave us the Eucharist in a spirit of love, praise, thanksgiving and reparation”. Doing so in a spirit of self-sacrifice and gentleness.

My choice of becoming a religious is because of my love for Jesus in the Eucharist always been exposed on the altar with His heart so pure of love for me (men). I chose the Institute of Eucharistic Heart of Jesus because of their name and since I love the Heart of Jesus and always wishing and praying to have a heart like His, so holy and pure, I decided to join them.

I chose the religious life because of my love for the statue of our Lady, the Blessed Virgin Mary which always draw my attention to Jesus. I desired to be holy just like her and also wanting to be of help to the poor. I chose EHJ because I love them and my spirit accepted them.
